I see strength as an innate characteristic in all people. I also understand that it can be difficult to see that strength within ourselves in times of hardship and pain. It can be incredibly challenging to explore the most vulnerable parts of our being; our innermost thoughts and feelings. I believe that this work can begin in a non-judgemental, safe and supportive environment that empowers individuals to make the positive changes needed to live happy and fulfilled lives. I believe the key to successful therapy is developing strong therapeutic relationships with my clients rooted in empathy, trust, mutual respect, and understanding.
I provide counselling to individuals for a wide variety of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem/identity, stress, grief, body image, relationship issues and OCD.
My approach to therapy is eclectic, drawing from a variety of different research and evidence-based modalities. Some of these modalities include CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) , Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Narrative Therapy. I also provide couples therapy utilizing both Gottman and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), taking a research-based approach to creating stronger, healthier relationships.
I seek to understand my clients’ experiences through their eyes, while utilizing an eclectic approach to therapy. Each client is different, and therefore counselling will vary for each individual. I understand that therapy is a big commitment, and therefore finding a therapist that fits with you is of the utmost importance.
